fish farm of Matsyafed is situated 2 kms away from Narakkal fish farm
towards south . The farm is very close to chappa beach in
Elankunnappuzha panchayat.The farm is famous for the culture of Indian
Grey Mullet ( Mugil cephalus ) which is popularly called “ Thirutha”.
The fish ponds and canals around the farm including a mangrove island
add magnificent beauty to aqua tourism. Farm has 46 acres of water body
with 3 blocks of fish culture ponds. Grey mullets, milk fish, pearl
spots, tilapia, tiger prawn and mud crab are the main species cultured
in this farm. The farm is a traditional one and prawn filtration is
practiced regularly for the culture of prawn varieties such as
Penaeus indicus, Metapenaeus monoceros and Metapenaeus dobsonii.
The ticket fare of aqua tourism is Rs.200/-per head for adult person, and Rs.100/-per children up to 12 years.
Welcome drink ,lunch with fish curry ,fish fry, prawn pickle and ice
cream are included in the tour package.
Facilities like pedal boating,
row boating, angling of fish are also available. The sea food
restaurant attached to the farm is run by a women self help group
selected under SGSY project of Central Govt. Special dishes made from
farm fresh fishes, prawns and crabs are available in the restaurant at
reasonable rate.
Hammocks and huts are provided on pond
bunds as well as in mangrove forest. Tourists can enjoy the whistle
sound of birds in mangrove forests. Tourists can enjoy speed boating
and fish jumping at north block of farm on payment of special fee of
Rs.50 per head. It is a marvelous experience.
A canal safari in boat is
arranged for back water cruise which is having rich greenery ambience.

How to reach the destination : Drive
through Vallarpadom- Vypin- Paravur road, cross 3 Gosree bridges, right
turn at LNG circle, after 3 kms reach hospital junction at Malippuram,
turn left to Chappa beach road.
Visiting Time : 9am to 6 pm
Lunch time : 12.30 pm to 3 pm
